The Last Mid-Wife Highlights Critical Facilities in Te Puia Springs
In 2018 Impact Consulting undertook feasibility work looking at redevelopment options for Te Puia Springs Hospital. These critical health service facilities include the last remaining rural birthing unit on the East Cape, without which expectant mothers wanting a hospital birth would be forced to travel to Gisborne.
The last mid-wife for the East Cape Corrina Parata cover about 4,000km per month, along rugged coastline to tend to families and deliver new babies.
It is great to see Te Puia Springs and the East Cape getting some good media coverage for the great work they do. Look forward to seeing their hospital facilities being rejuvenated...
